Company Background

Nestlé had its origins in Vevey, Switzerland, in the mid-1860s. In 1886, a condensed milk factory was started by two brothers, Charles and George Page. As Switzerland had an abundant supply of fresh milk, the condensed milk factory was started under the name Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company. In 1867, Henri Nestlé developed an infant baby food which was milk based and began marketing it for infants who showed intolerance to their mother’s milk. By the year 1875, Nestlé’s products were being sold across the globe in countries such as the US, Argentina, Indonesia, and Egypt.
